December is a very special month in the life of a Devotee. We
celebrate this month as Srila Prabhupada's Marathon. In all of the
countries on this planet Earth Devotees are going out on Sankirtan to
distribute Srila Prabhupada's books.
In some places it is very cold at that time. But in spite of that the
warriors of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu's spiritual army are going out to
fight Maya, to relief the living entities from unending sufferings and
to give them the most precious gift, a medicine, which heals the mind
and the soul.
Srila Prabhupada's book are Personalities, who start to change lives
of people as soon as They enter their houses. They teach the Truth.
They enlighten the dark existence. They point out the goal which we
really should be striving for.
In Ujjain this month doesn't just utterly pass by. Each year it is a
special month. In 2005 i. e. Guru Maharaj organized a Sankirtan
meeting after Marathon finished. After His lecture all the Devotees
assembled at the Temple room. And Guru Maharaja started to glorify the
Sankirtan reading the results of the distributed books. He personally
gave each of Sankirtan Devotees a gift and a Maha garland.
The gifts were very special, because they all were different things -
Maha from Guru Maharaj. Someone got a hat, someone a chadar, or
anything else, things that we saw Guru Maharaj using before. All of
this gifts were packed in a shining paper, therefore all of the
Devotees were very curious to unpack them. After the meeting they
immediately started to put on this gifts and with smiles upon their
faces and happily they showed each other their gifts from Guru
Maharaj.
And last year Guru Maharaj invited all the matajis both from the
Temple and from the congregation and inspired them all for Sankirtan.
To go from door to door, to preach the glories of Radha Madan
Mohan,Krisna Balaram and Goura Nitay, to invite people to the Temple.
Or just get to know them and give them spiritual association. And, of
course, to glorify Srila Prabhupada and His books. Guru Maharaj
personally wrote down the names of all of the matajis, divided them
into few smaller groups and gave each of this group a particular area
to preach. The matajis were very much inspired and went out for book
distribution every day and showed very good results! Guru Maharaj was
very pleased and read the results very happily every day after the
lectures on Caitanya-caritamrita.
And this year the Devotees as always went on travelling Sankirtan.
They are eight and they will travel during the whole month. We are
praying for them that Krishna may be always close to them and may help
them in their transcendental activities.And that they may be good
instruments in the all merciful hands of Krishna.
